About Seat Chart App
We build the tool people actually need when they sit down to plan an event with assigned seating — not a redesigned shapes app, not a spreadsheet with a graphic skin.
Why this exists
Three years ago, one of us was planning a wedding for 140 guests in an L-shaped barn venue, and the seating chart consumed an entire weekend. The tools that came up in Google were either generic design platforms with no concept of a table, or paid wedding suites that gated the seating-chart feature behind a $400 annual plan. The spreadsheet alternative didn't survive contact with the venue floor plan, which had a pillar in the middle of where the dance floor was supposed to go.
Two months later, the same person was helping a teacher friend rebuild her classroom rotation in Google Drawings every two weeks. Same problem, different decade of the user. The friction wasn't the social work of figuring out who sits where — it was the mechanical work of drawing the layout, naming the chairs, exporting something printable, and starting over the next time.
Seat Chart App is the version of the tool that should have existed both times. Seats are first-class objects. Tables know what they are. Charts export to PDF and CSV at print resolution. The free tier covers most small events; the Pro tier covers everything beyond that. Nothing on this site has ever been a redesigned shape-drawing app.
Who we are
A small independent team of designers, engineers, and event organizers based in the US and Europe. We have planned real weddings, taught real classrooms, and laid out real restaurant floors. We've also rebuilt charts the morning of the event because RSVPs landed late. The tool is opinionated where we have opinions and quiet where we don't.
We're not building this as a side project or as a stepping stone to something else. Seating chart software is the kind of quiet, infrastructural tool that gets neglected by big platforms and built poorly by everyone else. We're here to do it properly and stay focused on this one thing.
What we won't do
Sell ads on your seating chart. Pop up modals while you're in the middle of placing a table. Move your saved charts behind a paywall after the fact. Ship a new feature that breaks the workflow you're used to. Pretend our small team is bigger than it is.
How to reach us
