Privacy Policy

1. The short version

Seat Chart App is built privacy-first. The seating-chart tool runs entirely in your browser. Everything you type — your chart, table labels, guest names, meal and dietary notes — is saved only in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is never sent to or stored on our servers.

We don't sell or rent your data. We don't share guest lists with advertisers. We don't train AI models on your charts. We hold no database of your guests.

2. What we collect

The tool (free): nothing personal reaches us. Your charts and guest details live in your browser's local storage only. If you accept analytics cookies (see §6), we collect anonymous, IP-anonymized usage data (page views, performance) via Google Analytics. Decline and no analytics is collected.

Sharing a chart: the "Share" link encodes the whole chart inside the URL itself. We do not store the shared chart on our servers — anyone you send the link to reads it directly from the link.

Buying Pro or an Event pass: checkout runs on Stripe. Stripe collects your payment details and email (for the receipt) — we never see or store your card number. There is no account and no login: a signed licence token is saved in your browser to unlock Pro features. We store no chart data for paying users either.

Account sign-in (optional): you can optionally sign in with Google to manage a Pro subscription across devices. When you do, we receive only your name, email address, and profile picture from Google — never your Google password. We use your email solely to locate your Stripe purchases and open the billing portal. We keep no separate user database: your sign-in creates a temporary, signed session token in your browser, and your billing record lives with Stripe. The tool itself never requires an account.

Email: if you email us (e.g. the "launching soon" or support links), we keep that correspondence to reply. We don't add you to any marketing list without your explicit opt-in.

3. How long we keep it

Your charts and guest details stay in your browser until you clear them — use the tool's Reset button or clear your browser storage to remove them immediately. We have no copy to delete because we never received one.

Stripe retains transaction records for the period required by financial and tax law. Analytics data follows Google Analytics retention (up to 14 months).

4. Third parties we use

• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe receives your card details and email directly; we never see your card number.
• Google Analytics 4 — anonymous usage analytics, IP-anonymized, loaded only after you accept cookies.
• Google Sign-In (OAuth) — used only if you choose to sign in. Google confirms your identity and shares your name, email, and profile picture; we never receive your Google password.
• Cloudflare — DNS and email routing for our domain.
• Vercel — hosting and content delivery.

These providers act as our data processors; using their services accepts their data-processing agreements. We don't use third-party advertising networks, Facebook pixel, or similar trackers.

5. Your rights & control

Because your chart data never leaves your device, you control it directly: Reset in the tool, or clear your browser's site data, deletes it on the spot. You can export your work at any time as a PDF or a share link.

For data a processor holds (e.g. a Stripe transaction record), or any email you've sent us, you can request access, a copy, or deletion — email [email protected]. We respond within five business days.

EU and UK residents have rights under the GDPR; California residents have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know and to delete. We do not sell or share personal information, so no "Do Not Sell" action is needed — but you're welcome to confirm this with us.

6. Cookies & consent

The tool itself works without cookies. The only cookies we set are Google Analytics analytics cookies, and they are set only after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner — never before. Decline, and no analytics cookies are written. Your Pro licence is stored in local storage, not a cookie, and there is no advertising or third-party tracking cookie anywhere on the site.

7. Children

Seat Chart App is intended for adults planning events and for educators. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We update this policy whenever our data handling changes — for example, when we added Google Analytics, Stripe checkout, and optional Google sign-in. The "last updated" date above always reflects the most recent change.
