The Ogunquit Playhouse is a summer stock theater at 10 Main Street, on Route 1 in Ogunquit, Maine, 16 miles north of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Walter and Maude Hartwig started it in a downtown garage in 1933, and the current playhouse was built in 1937. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. Its season now runs about 21 weeks, into the fall, and it welcomes more than 100,000 guests a year.

Tips before you go
Parking on the campus is free and opens one hour before each show, but most cars can't leave until the performance ends. The theater opens 30 minutes before curtain, is air-conditioned in summer and heated in fall, and asks only for casual dress. Shows run about 2 hours 30 minutes with intermission. Drinks and snacks are sold in the Lobby, Gazebo Bar and Patio Bar, cards only.
How to read the Ogunquit Playhouse seating chart
Seats 101 to 114 are the center block in every row. Side seats are numbered by side: even numbers on house right and odd numbers on house left, so seats 2 and 1 are on opposite sides of the room.
The front row is BB, followed by rows A to Y running back toward the lobby. Cross-aisles cut across at rows J and U.
Because the aisle is steep, wheelchair spaces are only in rows I and Y. Row Y is right through the lobby doors, row I needs a companion to help, and chairs without armrests can be bought in those spaces. Headphones and hearing loops are free at the Patron Services desk.
